TARO JUKU is a policy unit for KONO Taro.

While initially concerned with environmental and energy issues, TARO JUKU has expanded its policy focus to include foreign policy issues and information technology. The organization is now divided into five groups concerned with the following issues: materials recycling, energy policies, overseas development aid, nuclear disarmament and e-security.

Materials Recycling

TARO JUKU is proposing amendments to the existing industrial and household waste laws and Material Recycling laws. TARO JUKU tries to introduce more market mechanisms into the recycling industry.

Energy

TARO JUKU is developing clean and sustainable energy alternatives for Japan. TARO JUKU advocates a hydrogen-based energy system. TARO JUKU is opposed to the current nuclear power programs of the government as the government has so far failed to address the issues of highly-radioactive nuclear waste and subsidies.

ODA

TARO JUKU is currently developing Japanユs aid policy towards the Middle East. TARO JUKU is aiming at the promotion of a better relationship between Japan and the Arab countries.

Nuclear disarmament

TARO JUKU is studying Japanユs possible role in nuclear disarmament. TARO JUKU aims to make policies that would help reduce the storage and production of nuclear weapons throughout the world.

E-security

TARO JUKU is reviewing the current e-government (electronic government) policies at the national and local government levels.
