A Kyodo Symposium

January 13, 2010 12:00 AM

I had a sukiyaki lunch with David Lidington, British shadow foreign minister. He told me when the Conservatives lost to the New Labours of Mr. Blair, there were only eleven incumbent Conservative MPs who had had an opposition experience. He promised to educate us with their opposition experience and campaign strategies.

I attended a symposium on Japan-US Relationship hosted by the Kyodo News. I stressed that the Alliance had been of experts, not of the people. We need to let people know why the Alliance is so important to the Japanese. We need to let the general public know some concrete evidences and stories. I also pointed out that Japan needs to work with the US how to deter the nuclear missiles of North Korea believed to be deployed soon. We should not simply cross out the possibilities of Nuclear Sharing.
