How long is the Honeymoon Period?

On the last day of the Parliamentary Session, the opposition parties handed in the vote of non-confidence for the ABE Government. The Speaker, KONO Yohei, receiving the opposition leaders in his room, mentioned that it had been only three months since ABE became the PM and he should be given some more time. But the opposition parties did not give him more time anyway; though the motion was so easily beaten.

Later, the secretariat of the House mentioned the Speaker that when Mr. HATA Tsutomu became the Prime Minister leading the non-LDP coalition, then the opposition LDP handed in the vote of non-confidence for his cabinet after thirty days. The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, then, was KONO Yohei himself!

A Happy New Year!
